It is no surprise that I love to read. So today I wanted to talk about my Kindle. I get a lot of questions about it and figured it would be a great post topic. As much as I love real books, especially a good hardcover, I LOVE my kindle for several reasons…
- It is lightweight and portable – I love that I can carry around my kindle anywhere and everywhere. It fits in most of my bags (besides extra small ones), whereas a big book is bulky, heavy, and only fits in large bags. On a 2 week vacation, I usually read at least 2 books, so I especially love my kindle for traveling. I can store several books on it (or download on WiFi) and don’t have to carry more than one book along with me.
- I don’t have to wait for a new book after you finish one – I love when I finish a book, I can immediately download another. I don’t have to wait to go to the bookstore or order online to start a new book, I can download one right away!
- I can easily read in the sun – Unlike reading on my iPad or iPhone, my Kindle Paperwhite’s pages look like a book! It’s also waterproof!
- I can read at night without bothering my husband – I used to read books with a book light (nerd alert??) but even that would bother my husband when he was trying to sleep. In the dark, my kindle automatically lights up, but without all the harsh blue lights that my iPad or iPhone uses, so I can read as long as I want without it affecting my sleep.
- No clutter – I read a good amount of books and if I ever read an actual book, I try to give away to a friend to read. However, I hate keeping them because they just collect dust and take up too much space in our house. With the kindle it takes up no space! I have read 9 books since quarantine started and I am so happy I don’t have to worry about the stack and what to do with them.
- Goodreads – Even though I don’t need a kindle to use Goodreads, I love the feature. Goodreads is an Amazon application, that I can keep my book lists organized and share them with friends. I love it! I have it on my phone as well, so I can add a book whenever anyone recommends one. Once I start or finish a book, my kindle automatically updates my lists.
I personally have the Kindle Paperwhite and I use this hand strap that helps me hold it comfortably with one hand. I also keep it in this leather sleeve.
